Alden Boys cross country off to a great start.

Alden Cross Country is off and running!  The team has won their last three invitational meets. On September 10th the mighty Bulldogs placed 1st at the West Seneca invitational.  Three Alden runners finished in the top five.  (Adam Czech 1st, Carl Farrell 3rd and Bobby Adams 5th) The team was well rounded with David Andrzejewski finishing 11th and rookie Josh Jeziorski finishing 12th.  These contributions made it possible for the boys to run away with a first place team finish.

One week later, on September 17th the Bulldogs headed into the East Aurora invitational.  The boys team was able to squeak out a 1st place team finish by outscoring Fredonia by 6 points.  Once again, Adam Czech had a strong showing finishing 3rd overall while teammates Bobby Adams placed 10th and Carl Farrell finished in 16th place.

On September 24th , the boys team participated in the Leroy Invitational and again were victorious. The boys dominated the field and was led by 10th grader Bobby Adams.  Bobby finished 1st overall and was followed by teammates Adam Czech 4th and Carl Farrell 7th.   But it was the strong running of Josh Jeziorski, David Andrzejewski, Jordan Servos, and Dylan Colosant that was the key factor in overall 1st place team finish. The team will head into the McQuaid invitational to see if they can keep the momentum.

Alden Girls cross country is making a statement.

The girls team is off to a great start.  The girls team has placed in the top 4 in the last three invitational meets.

The girls were able to place 4th overall in the West Seneca invitational as they were led by rookie Sarah Golas.  Sarah ran her first 5k and did not look much like a rookie as she did.  She finished first overall in the race.  Captains Savannah Warner and Becky Kron were not far behind her finishing 8th and 24th.  With one race under their belts, the Lady Bulldogs headed into the always tough East Aurora invitational.  The team endured the down poor of rain and seemingly hurricane force winds to place 2nd overall.  Once again Sarah Golas led the team as she finished 2nd overall.  This past weekend the girls team united and became a force to reckoned with.  The team had 3 girls in the top 7.  Golas dominated the field by placing 1stoverall and teammates Becky Kron placed 5th with Savannah Warner on her heels placing 7th.  It was teammates Alyssa King, Samantha Minotti and McKenzie Gaffney that made the difference.  The girls ran personal best in order to secure a first place team victory.  “I’m looking forward to the McQuaid Invitational this weekend. It’s always a great test for our kids. Alden Cross Country has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the state of New York and our goal of winning a championship is always clear.” Said the always quote-worthy Coach, Ed Carll.thumbnail_team-photo
