Fresh Start For Boys Basketball

The Boys Varsity Basketball team looks to win the division with fresh eyes coaching the team, Mike Trzybinski from Tonawanda . Andy Smith the former head coach of Varsity Basketball since 2012 has official stepped down to give Coach Trzybinkski full power of the team, Coach Smith will be a part-time assisted coach.

Coach Trzybinski was a teacher at St. Joseph’s for six years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State in 1999 and his master’s degree from Ball State in 2005. Coach Trzybinski has an impressive basketball background with coaching at the high school and college level. Before entering Alden for his 17th year of coaching Coach Trzybinski was an assistant coach at Canisius and was in charge of recruiting, on-floor coaching and scouting as well as coordinating the team’s travel and film exchange. Coach Trzybinski also has participated in the 2003 Empire Games, Eastern Invitational Camp, the Five Star Camp, the University of North Carolina Camp and the West Virginia University Camp.

Boys Varsity is looking to win the division for the first time since 2009. Coach Trzybinski believes he can turn the team into division leaders, the boys have a tough road ahead of them with Cleveland Hill and Lackawanna being top two teams in the past couple years.

Senior captains Conard Boucher, Gabe Koask, and junior Christian Snell had a couple words to share about the new edition to the coaching staff.

“Coach has an impressive attitude towards basketball, he shows up ready to work everyday and expects the same from us. Coach from the first day of tryouts shows us that he can helps us beat Cleveland Hill for the division.”

Coach Trzybinski will show his experience and determination at the boys first home game December 9th against Lackawanna.
