Donate Life Club is one of the most popular clubs in Alden. We have a group of active members that are committed to making this club a huge success that everyone wants to be apart of. On Wednesday November 9th, 2016 Donate Life Club had the opportunity to take a field trip to Untys Headquarters in downtown Buffalo. There were a few speakers that talked about the blood and organ donation process.  There was also a speaker that talked about eye and tissue donation.  Club members also got to see a cornea that was on its way to be transplanted, which sparked a great deal of interest. Participants also had the opportunity to take a look at the blood lab along with a full building tour. Each employee took the time to give a step by step explanation of their job. Unyts is one of eight centers nationwide to house organ, tissue, and eye procurement in one location. Many people are involved in this process of donation. To wrap the trip up, I  asked the active club members to talk about their favorite part of the tour, it seemed like everyone thought a different part was interesting.  This event is one of many that Donate Life will be a part of. The employees and the trip to the headquarters always enlightens group members on new information. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to attend the trips four years in a row and every time I learn something new.
