Two Governors Block Travel Ban

This Month Derrick Watson, District Judge of Hawaii, and Theodore D. Chuang, District Judge of Maryland, overturned Trump’s Travel Ban.

The primary reason for the overturning was the belief that the ban was, instead of a travel ban, a Muslim Ban. This accusation was due to the ban only affecting the countries of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

In a 43 page ruling, Judge Watson stated “The Notion that one can demonstrate animus toward any group of people only by targeting all of them at once is fundamentally flawed.”

Judge Chuang strongly believes that the Travel Ban is specifically against Muslims and that Trump opposes their religion.

After the court ruling, Trump spoke at a Nashville rally voicing his disapproval of the decision.

Trump will now soon have to have a meeting in the Court on his past ruling. As of now, the Justice Department is one of the only US agencies that are backing Trump’s position.
