Winter Sport Season Recap

As the winter season comes to an end, spring sports are on the rise. But don’t worry winter sports we haven’t forgotten about you guys just quite yet.

Here’s a quick look at how the teams did this season.

 

The boys swimming team did excellent this season. The team won E.C.I.C. Division 4 title, which hasn’t been done since 1982. Their  overall record was 6-3 and their E.C.I.C. record was 5-0. Some key swimmers that they had this year was Sean Mahaney, Alex Bennett, and Sam Cansdale.

 

The girls varsity team went 6-14 his winter. They made it to sectionals with a win against Tonawanda but suffered a tough loss against Newfane. Captains this year were Rachael Kueker and Jenna Wlowtowski. Katie Hummel was this years top point scorer with 135 points. Grace Pastusynski had 64 assists which was the highest on the team and Rachael Kueker had 164 rebounds.

 

The rifle team had a record of 9-5. This year they set a new school record in their 3 position shooting event with a score of 1136. Their top 5 shooters were: Emily Szymnaski 280, Sarah Golas 280, Miranda Koch 280, Luke Golas 280, and Tony Cometto 280.  At sectionals they came in 3rd place for 3 position and 4th place for the off hand event.

 

 

For the varsity boys basketball team Christian Snell had the most points and rebounds, with 370 points and 204 rebounds. Joshua Jeroizski had the most assists with 67 assists. They had a tough season with a record of a 4-17.

 

For the bowling team Alex Rzepka was the top bowler this season. He set a new school record of a 300, which is the perfect game. He had the highest average of a 218.
