Behind the Scenes of Holiday Havoc

Behind+the+Scenes+of+Holiday+Havoc

Have you ever participated in Alden High School’s annual Holiday Havoc? AHS students anticipate this event every December, but little is known about the planning of the event. High School Reporter Corinne Bishop went behind the scenes to uncover the hard work that Student Congress puts into Holiday Havoc each year to bring this special event to life.

“Student Congress usually starts planning Holiday Havoc right after Homecoming,” says Student Congress Advisor, Mr. Domino. “It’s something that’s in the process for usually about a month and a half to two months.”

Mr. Domino emphasizes the in-depth research that goes on behind the scenes. Student Congress members bring fresh ideas to the table while maintaining tradition and bringing back crowd favorites. Their contributions don’t end at the Holiday Havoc event, the students also orchestrate the entire Spirit Week.

“Student Congress members are deeply involved in the planning,” says Mr. Domino. “They’re researching games that are out there, we look at YouTube videos of what other schools are doing, and we use our social networks.”

Acknowledging the time and creativity it takes to put Holiday Havoc together gives AHS students a greater appreciation for this festive event that kicks off Christmas Break each year.
