On Thursday, May 19, the NYSDOT announced they will begin the much anticipated roadwork on Broadway in the Village of Alden under the viaduct. This section of roadway has been under extreme scrutiny since its last restructuring when road was reduced to only two lanes. Residents have not been happy with the current layout and, as we reported earlier this year, Alden CSD reached out to the DOT citing several safety concerns and “near-misses” with school buses traveling that course each day.

The DOT is expected to begin work on Monday 5/23. Details are vague but the work is expected to take 6-8 weeks while the road becomes one lane controlled by a temporary traffic light system.
