The Alden Substance Abuse Coalition will be hosting the third annual Halloween Spooktacular on October 21st and 22nd with festivities throughout the Alden community.

The events will commence on Friday the 21st at the community center. “Friday Fright Nite” will include a haunted house from 6-9pm. This will be geared more towards older kids and adults, as it might be too scary for little ones. It is expected to be a big hit for anyone who enjoys a good scare.

More family-oriented activities will be taking place on Saturday the 22nd.  There will be a less spooky haunted house at the community center from 12-5pm.  In addition, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be at ACTS/Parkside Cupcakes along with “cowabunga” specialty lunch packs that will be available for kids. Games and activities will be in the Fireman’s Park throughout the day.

“Trunk or Treating” will also be taking place on October 22nd. Decorated vehicles will be lined up on Church St. and will extend into the park next to the haunted house if necessary. From 1-3pm, participants will be in costume passing out candy to “trunk or treaters.” Prizes will be given to the cars with the best decorations. Any business, group, or individual who is interested in bringing a vehicle is encouraged to email their information to AldenDACtrunkortreat@yahoo.com.

The Alden Substance Abuse Coalition’s goal is to be part of the C.U.R.E. by providing Communication, Understanding, Resources for rehabilitation, and Education for the purpose of early intervention and prevention. They provide the Alden community with drug/alcohol-free events throughout the year to show kids that these substances are not needed to have fun. The Coalition is always looking for volunteers and anyone who wants to be involved should contact aldencure@gmail.com and visit www.aldensac.com for more information.

Be sure to mark your calendars and come out to enjoy this fun and spooky event!
