This fall at Alden High School the theater crew is back on the stage with a play called, How The West Was Dun. How The West Was Dun is a hilarious melodrama that pokes fun at Hollywood’s Western movies and adds some modern touches as well. The smooth and prosperous Richard Coldheart has to marry Polly Wanda Cracker to gain command of the Cracker property. On the other hand it’s Polly’s plain sister, Prunella, who wants to court him. At the same time, the hero of the play, Sheriff Wayne John is caught up trying to survive the tomfoolery of his well intended but scatterbrained Deputy Dowrong. When a gang of rapscallions consisting of Snydley Dastardly, Kid Kid, and Calamity Jan, try to assume control of Low Humidity Chasm, things start to go south fast!

imagesThe onlookers will have to pay attention to the schizophrenic kid to see if he is wearing his white hat or black hat to know whether to cheer or to boo. Also Blacker Bart will leave no opposition in their heads, he is even meaner than Black Bart. Also there is a narrator to keep the characters on stage in their places. No matter what, this wild and wacky Western will leave the audience members in tears and their stomachs hurting from all of the nonstop laughter. Some of the lead roles include Sheriff Wayne John played by Dylan Kiener, Deputy Dowrong played by Ian Johnson, Polly Wanda Cracker will be played by Paige Razepka, and Prunella Cracker is played by Erin Urbanski. Other roles include Sarsaparilla Sal- Brooke Meyer, Bo Best- Carl Farell, Snydle Dastardly- Everett Gilbert, Rich Coldheart- Carl Aldinger. If you enjoyed last year’s comedy play you will like this one too.
