VISION 20/20: Replacement of Fuel Tank

Alex Ward, Reporter

Part of Proposition #1 of ‘Vision 20/20’  is that the district is looking to replace the underground fuel tank located at the bus garage. In an interview with Ms. Hoffman at the bus garage, she explained the average life span of a fuel tank is 20-30 years. Our current fuel tank is 31 years old. If it were to leak it, could contaminate the soil and water. It would be incredibly expensive to repair and we would have to replace it anyways. Ms. Hoffman stated that the bus garage keeps detailed records to check for leaks. Many local municipalities  use it also, such as law enforcement and the fire department. Finally, the Environmental Protection Agency is in the process of updating regulations and may require all underground tanks to be replaced. Don’t forget to vote December 12,  2017.
