This week, Alden High School recognizes two exceptional athletes who have demonstrated extraordinary skill, leadership, and determination in their respective sports.
Sheeanne DeFedericis (Varsity Girls Swimming)
Junior swimmer Sheeanne DeFedericis has made waves on the Varsity Girls Swim team for the past four years, consistently impressing the swimming community with her performances. This season alone, Sheeanne has already qualified for both ECIC and Class C events in multiple categories, including the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.28), 50-yard freestyle (27.93), 500-yard freestyle (6:35.08), 100-yard butterfly (1:06.94), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:36.02). These achievements have contributed to Alden’s undefeated record this season.
Beyond her times in the pool, Sheeanne is admired for her leadership, commitment, and problem-solving skills. Coach Elizabeth Osucha notes her ability to set and achieve ambitious goals while fostering collaboration within the team. From her early start on the varsity team as an eighth-grader to her current role as a team leader, Sheeanne has earned the respect of her peers, coaches, and teachers alike. She consistently brings her best to every practice and competition, never skipping a set and always giving 100% effort.
Evan Feider (Varsity Boys Cross Country)
Junior Co-Captain Evan Feider has been a standout on the Varsity Boys Cross Country team, recently placing an impressive fifth out of 260 finishers at the prestigious Queensbury-Adirondack Invitational. With a personal-best time of 16:05.3 for the 5K race, Evan has solidified his position among the top ten NYSPHSAA/Federation Boys Class C runners in New York State.
Coach Emilio Mancino praises Evan’s dedication and leadership as a co-captain, consistently pushing himself and his teammates to new heights. His remarkable performance this season highlights not only his physical ability but also his relentless work ethic and determination to excel.
