Welcome New Teachers!

Ms. Pressberg: Ms. Wasmer: Mr. Kaplan:
Welcome New Teachers!

Piage Naab, Reporter

Here at Alden Central Schools, staff and students are treated like family. We wanted to make sure that our new teachers get the love they deserve. This year we welcome Ms. Wasmer, Ms. Pressberg, and Mr. Kaplan to Alden High School. Although it is late in the year, these teachers have done so much for Alden already. Ms. Wasmer has been teaching an Intro to Computer Applications class as well as becoming the advisor for the class of 2019. Ms. Pressberg is co-teaching U.S. History, English, and she has been teaching a Study Skills class. Mr. Kaplan has become the Athletic director for our school.

We got to sit down with each of these teachers to see what makes their jobs so great. “I like to teach kids in a way that they can learn,” Ms. Pressberg says, “to make learning accessible to every student.” Ms. Pressberg also stated that she grew up talking about philosophy and U.S. History and wanted to incorporate that into her work. Ms. Wasmer told us her favorite memory about teaching, including a touching moment about a past student named Eva. “She looked around and said, Ms. Wasmer, I found my people.” Ms. Wasmer explained how touching it was to be able to bring someone out of their shell. Mr. Kaplan explains what he loves about teaching. “I like interacting with the kids,” he states “They’re still young adults, they’re old enough to carry a conversation.” On behalf of Alden High School, WACS News welcomes Ms. Wasmer, Ms. Pressberg, and Mr. Kaplan. We hope you have fun year!
