This soccer season for the varsity boys will be one to remember. The season’s success was due to a total team effort. Having a season of 14-5-1 has been the team’s best record in 20 years. The team went way beyond the regular season making it all the way to sectional finals, which hasn’t been achieved again since 1993. Even though they came out with a tough loss against East Aurora, the boys do not have anything to hang their heads about. Although all of the team contributed and put in hard work and dedication there were 3 key players who were strong contenders the entire season.

Matt Ess not only had an outstanding season he now holds two records, most goals in a single season and for career assists. He scored 22 goals in this 2015 season averaging 1 goal a game while he had 23 assists. He took second in career goals only 5 behind Andrew Smith who holds the record of 40 career goals. Matt made the 1st team all star as a forward. Josh Dudley the senior goaltender had 6 shut outs this season only 3 behind Austin Long who had 9 in 2014. Josh made 2nd team all star as a goalkeeper. Last but not least Nathan Nuwer had 14 goals and 10 assists this season being the second highest scorer on the team. Nathan made 1st team as a midfielder.

Along with these 3 players Austin Kissell made 1st team for defense while Michael Munn and John Bobeck made 2nd team for defense and midfield while Conrad Boucher was an honorable mention. Their favorite game was when they crushed Tonawanda 4-0 on our senior night and also beating them 2-1 in the 11th minute of overtime for the semi-finals game. The team will not forget this season and everything they have accomplished. The Alden community is very proud of how far they advanced to. Great Season Boys!
