The Board of Education held their first Question and Answer Session of this year on Thursday, October 20, in the High School Library. Mr. Adam Stoltman, the district’s Superintendent, Mr. Michael Bennett, the board’s Vice President, and other board members, Mr. Ken Stoldt and Mr. James Yeorg, were in attendance to answer any questions. Only a handful of curious residents attended but came with many concerning questions, all in which were answered thoroughly. A lot of questions were based on the most recent renovations from 2014 but also in regards to the future restoring of the district and their bids. There are many small things that still need to completed in full before we can officially say these new renovations are complete; many of the projects just need a few finishing touches. The board members made it clear that they are “not accepting sub-par work”. All projects will be completed fully will be done right to refrain from having to address the issues again in the near future. Also, for further projects to improve the schools it was clarified that if the project at hand is above the cost of $20,000 the board must publicize the project, for example in the paper or posted on a bulletin. If this quote is below $20,000 the board can simply accept no less than three bids, and from there they choose. This session was followed by a regular BOE Meeting. If you have any questions or want more information about the Alden Central School District you can join us at the next meeting, held on Thursday, November 3 2016 at the Intermediate School.
