Fall Sports Season Wrap Up

Fall Sports Season Wrap Up
Rick Penny

This school year’s fall sports season is now over, and I want to look back at the sports season. This year, the varsity boys soccer team had a great season. They made it to the playoffs, but faced a tough loss in shootouts against a strong and well-rounded team, East Aurora

The varsity girls soccer team also had an amazing season with their young squad. This team was made up of underclassmen but still competed and beat multiple opponents. Ultimately, the team fell to the same fate as the boys by losing in the first round of the playoffs to Medina.

Another team that had an amazing season was girls cross country. They did well enough in their meets even with the addition of a new runner this year

“This year, we got a couple new freshman girls,” said veteran runner Emily Sentz. “So it was more girls on our team than we had last year.”

For the boys cross country team, this fall was a huge season. The boys dominated multiple races this year and went to the New York State Cross Country Federation meet as an entire team for the first time in Alden’s history.

Another team with a playoff appearance this year was the football team. This year, the Alden Football Bulldogs went to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They had an eventful and exciting season, but sadly fell to Maryvale in the first round of playoffs.
