This week, Alden High School proudly recognizes two exceptional athletes for their dedication, leadership, and outstanding performances in their sports.
Athlete of the Week: Nathan Mitchell (Varsity Boys Swimming)
Senior Nathan Mitchell continues to excel as a cornerstone of Alden’s swim program. Undefeated in the 200 and 500 freestyle within the ECIC division, Nathan’s dominance in the pool has set the tone for the Bulldogs’ success this season. At his most recent meet, he shaved six seconds off his 500 freestyle time, placing him 11th in Section VI rankings. Nathan also contributes to Alden’s undefeated 400 relay team and has qualified for postseason competition in multiple events, including the 200, 500, and both relays. With his determination and skill, Nathan is poised to lead his team to the ECIC championship, the Class C championship, and the state qualifiers. Good luck to Nathan as he works toward his ultimate goal of representing Alden at States!

Known for her leadership and positive energy, Summer balances her academic commitments with her passion for cheerleading. As the main base, she demonstrates both strength and versatility, contributing to her team’s success with dynamic stunts and engaging crowd performances. Summer’s mentorship extends beyond competitions, as she takes time to guide and support new team members. Her dedication to her teammates and her ability to inspire them to push boundaries exemplify true sportsmanship. Congratulations to Summer for her invaluable contributions to the team and the school community!
